Adding your simulation onto the DIS Network in a matter of DAYS!
Making your application capable of joining a DIS network can be a daunting task. In order to do this properly requires thousand of lines of code and hundreds of hours of testing and debugging. DIS Appliance Co. has come up with an easy way to do this that can cut MONTHS off of your schedule and significantly reduce the risk involved with such an undertaking.
Our new DIS EntityTool allows you quickly add your simulator onto the DIS network with minimal effort. With only a few simple commands in your code, your simulator can communicate on the DIS network in a matter of a few days.
This capability is added via a Dynamically Linked Library (dll) which is used to interface your simulator to the DIS Network. It provides the capability of notifying your application of events such as new entities coming on to or being removed from the network as well as providing you with the current status of all entities on the network. This will allow you a method to display these external entities in your visual scene as well as publishing your entities on the network for display on other simulators.
One of the advantages of utilizing the DIS EntityTool is that you do not have to fret over changing DIS Standards, you only have to specify what version of DIS that you want to publish, INCLUDING DIS 8!
This capability was initially designed to interface with the Unityâ„¢ Game Engine but can be used for any number of environments. Users are provided simple flow charts describing the steps required in order to specify the DIS connection and how to extract entity information from the tool. The DIS EntityTool then does the rest, handling all of the DIS traffic and keeping track of all of the entities.
Coupled with the DIS Protocol Analyzer, you can easily see the status of all entities and also stay on top of any irregularities that are occurring on the network notifying you, in real-time, of instances where anyone on the network is either published bad data or is not following proper DIS practices. The Protocol Analyzer also allows you the capability to record the DIS Traffic for later playback and analysis.
